It’s widely recognised that riding offers significant therapeutic benefits. It aids mobility, core strength and balance, improves general fitness and health and provides opportunity to make friends and grow in confidence, whilst staying active.
At Belvoir Vale RDA we offer individual or group based therapeutic riding sessions for disabled riders throughout the week.
Participants can ride in our new indoor Arena, which allows for year round riding with a viewing gallery, disabled lift access for horse riding and a therapy room. There is also an outdoor arena for summer riding.

We are really excited to now offer Carriage Driving sessions. Carriage Driving offers an alternative equine experience, with all the benefits of riding – improved coordination and balance as well as confidence building. It can be relaxing or more exhilarating, depending on what you fancy! Either way, you can enjoy the stunning scenery as you ride through the lush Nottinghamshire countryside.

Riding horses or Carriage Driving is not for everyone, which is why we also offer a range of non-ridden activities that still offer incredible health and wellbeing benefits.
Tea with a pony is a safe, supportive and sensory experience for those with disabilities or long term conditions such as dementia. It encourages alertness and engagement, which can help with memory.
Our Sensory Garden has been designed to provide a relaxing environment where people can bond and connect with our horses, helping to overcome stress and anxiety, and creating an opportunity to develop trust and empathy. We call this our “Magic Moments” session.
Horse care allows visitors to spend quality time with our horses learning all there is to know about equine welfare and grooming. It’s a social activity that promotes physical and emotional wellbeing.

I have this highlighted in red, as it can feel lke we are repeating ourselves. However, as s stand alone piece of information it can be helpful to have this in case someone is coming to the website ith no idea about why they should get involved in RDA etc. Thoughts welcome.
Research shows that horse riding with RDA delivers physical benefits, boosts confidence, improves communication skills and helps to build relationships.
RDA is recommended by medical professionals as it is great for building muscle strength, balance and fitness for people with physical, learning and sensory disabilities. It is also a great deal of fun and so rewarding for the riders, their families and the volunteers.
